Does this seem fair to you?
My friends and I planned a trip to Los Angeles scheduled for this weekend, and we have everything set up; tickets to a galaxy game and a mariah carey performance. it was supposed to be 3 of us but one couldn’t make it last minute.
I asked my parents for permission weeks ago and they were fine with it, until now. This morning, the day we are supposed to leave, they tell me they don’t want me to go because i’m “too young and inexperienced” to drive to LA and have trips like these.i am already 20 years old, i am not someone who asks for a lot, i do very well in school; i have a 3.8 gpa in college, and i’ve never taken a trip like this one.
I am very tempted to just leave because I honestly can’t believe they’re telling me this the morning of the trip. Do their actions seem fair to you?
You sound like a very responsible woman. I’m assuming that you are respectfully asking your parents permission because you still live with them. I think it’s great that you are so respectful of them but I do think they are being a wee bit overprotective in this case. I would just go and if they get upset have a sit down with them when you return and tell them that you meant no disrespect to them but the trip had been planned for weeks with their knowledge. Tell them that your sorry if they are upset but you did not want to cancel at the last minute. Finally add (in a respectful way) that they need to let you grow up!
